The ONLY Single Recyclable Icelandic Yogurt Cup

It shocked me to find out that of all of the Icelandic Yogurts, we are the only one who created a cup that was recyclable without modifications! Viking is one single recyclable piece with no added paper flap waste.

My entire life I have worked to preserve the beauty of nature. That’s why when we decided to sell Viking Icelandic Yogurt, it was important to us to make ours sustainable. We have always felt an intimate relation to nature. Whether it was the forest on the farm that we had to protect or the waterways we rowed on, conservation has always been important to us. As a rower, I know I have seen the effects firsthand of what can happen to a person spending a little bit of time on the water let alone the animals that live there.

I am proud that Viking is the most sustainable Icelandic Yogurt cup. Not only do we use less plastic in our cups, we print our label directly on it. No extra paper wrapper that needs to be separately recycled. Look, we understand how busy you are and we want to make your life simpler. Maybe things were just simpler since I developed my yogurt on a family farm with generations of living and working in concert with nature. Unlike other Icelandic yogurts, we did not develop Viking with Wall Street private equity advisors in New York and Los Angeles.

So today I saw a Facebook post that I have seen repeatedly from other Icelandic yogurts. These companies tout “We now use less plastic BUT we wrap the cup in paper you have to separately recycle.” Maybe we trust our customers. Maybe living on the farm I didn’t need to constantly jockey for attention from business school professors. We just didn’t think a paper sleeve that made the cup as bought unrecyclable was worth putting an ad up for our Facebook page!

We love nature and spend our free time there! We did not abandon our principles and make yogurt cups that came with litter! If you look at these pictures of us, the one out of place thing you’ll notice is a bright water bottle because we do everything we can to make the world a little greener. That bottle has been around the world with me, while our rivals are creating a chain of unrecyclable cups that can go around the world. When choosing a yogurt who do you think is going to have your best interest at heart? The guy from the family farm who brings his own water bottle around the world or the guys who create unrecyclable litter for Facebook posts!
